Meet the author & illustrator

A. Patel - Author
As a first-generation South Asian American and children's book author, I create stories inspired by my childhood experiences of not seeing myself or my BIPOC community reflected in books. I write to offer visibility, connection, and empowerment for children who, like me, yearn to feel seen and valued in stories.

With over a decade of experience working with developmental diagnoses in schools, homes, and daycares, I aim to bring awareness and break down stigmas across cultures and developmental differences. Through my trauma-informed lens, I advocate for inclusivity and celebrate diversity, creating a space where every child feels they belong.

B. Ito - Illustrator
I am a former special education teacher and a fourth-generation Japanese American who grew up in Los Angeles. Deeply passionate about fostering understanding, I co-designed a children’s book with my wife to help families celebrate diversity and build deeper connections. In my younger years, I loved expressing myself through art and creativity. After years of focusing on my teaching career, and starting a digital strategy company, creating this book reignited my artistic abilities, which had been hibernating for years. This journey has reminded me of the transformative power of creativity in bringing people together and sharing meaningful stories.
